Steps
1Place the filter (3-ply side toward the spout), rinse, discard the water.
230 g of coffee in the filter.
3Bloom: ~90 g of water, saturate the grounds.0:45
4Pour slowly and steadily up to 465 g.
5Let it draw down fully (~4:00–5:00).
Tips
- Grind one step coarser than the V60 (the filter is thicker).
- Match the temperature to the roast: lighter hotter, darker cooler.
Common mistakes
- Grind too fine → endless drawdown and bitterness.
- Filter misplaced (not 3-ply toward the spout) → blocked flow.
Variations
Temperature by roast — Light ~100 °C, medium ~96 °C, dark ~90 °C.
The Coffee-Note take
The Chemex rewards slowness: a calm, steady pour beats a strong flow.
